Piercing care advice

Healing and health go hand in hand It is important for you to understand that it is your body that will heal your new piercing. The healing process of a piercing is a complicated task and it is therefore important that your body is healthy. Be sure to maintain good hygiene and a good diet. Drink plenty of water. It is also a good idea to take a multivitamin supplement with vitamin C and zinc daily. All piercing jewelry we pierce with is made of surgical titanium (Ti6AL4VELI, Ti6AL4V). Titanium is used in healthcare and is a completely NICKEL-FREE material that does not cause unwanted allergic reactions. The advice below is general for all piercings, more specific information on how to best care for your particular piercing will be given to you by your piercer at the time of piercing.
What to expect: Redness Soreness Swelling Wound fluid (Whitish fluid, the body usually starts producing this after about a week. The appearance of exudate is not associated with an infection in the first place but a normal reaction that occurs as the body begins to heal your piercing.) The wound where the piercing is located may bleed a little on and off for the first few days. This is perfectly normal. During the healing period, avoid: NEVER TOUCH an unhealed piercing or the surrounding area with unwashed hands. This is the main cause of complications after a new piercing. You are introducing bacteria to the piercing area, which in the worst case can lead to an infected piercing. Every time you touch your jewelry unnecessarily, there is a risk of creating irritation and introducing dried exudate, scabs and bacteria into the wound.

Mistakes often made when getting a new piercing

Caring for a newly pierced skin is crucial to avoid infections and promote rapid healing. Unfortunately, it can be easy to make mistakes in care after getting a piercing, which can lead to problems and complications.

A common mistake is to touch the piercing with dirty hands. It is important to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before touching your piercing to prevent bacteria from being transferred to the wound. Scratching or picking at the piercing can also be harmful and delay healing.

Many people use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to clean their piercing wounds. This is a serious mistake as these substances can be very irritating and delay healing. Instead, you should use our piercing spray specifically designed for piercing care, or simply rinse the wound with tap water and mild soap.

Changing jewelry too early is another common trap. You should always follow the piercer's recommendations when it comes to when you can change the jewelry. Changing the jewelry too early can irritate the wound and increase the risk of infection.

Another important point to remember is to avoid using too much piercing care, however, you cannot overuse our spray as it is not drying. Over-cleaning can dry out the skin and make healing more difficult. Follow the recommended care guidelines and consult your piercer if you are unsure of what is best for your piercing.

In conclusion, it is easy to make mistakes in the care of a newly made piercing, but it is important to avoid these to ensure a smooth and trouble-free healing. Wash your hands before handling the piercing, avoid using irritants, and follow the piercer's advice carefully. By being attentive and careful, you can enjoy your new piercing without worrying about complications.
